Tana Ceramic Bowl
Details
The Tana Ceramic Bowl is an organic textural wonder. Low rounded and featuring vertical ridging, small applied tabs resembling finger marks are layered in arcs across the exterior. With a slightly irregular rim and reactive gray glaze with varied tones, it is a wonderful decor statement to display on its own or arrange in pairs on a console, bookshelf or coffee table.
Editors' Note
This bowl’s design is inspired by Tana ware - one name for a distinctive form of prehistoric East African pottery found in various locations including Kenya, Tanzania, Zanzibar and Mozambique. Despite its wide geographical range, the Tana ware moniker derives from the Tana river, along which most of the early discoveries were made. The pottery itself is found in a variety of forms, including open, closed, and carinated bowls, and sporting a number of design motifs such as triangular incisions, cross-hatching and fingernail incisions.
